Zechariah 9:9-12

New International Version

The Coming of Zion’s King

⁹Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion!^(A)
    Shout,^(B) Daughter Jerusalem!
See, your king comes to you,^(C)
    righteous and victorious,^(D)
lowly and riding on a donkey,^(E)
    on a colt, the foal of a donkey.^(F)
¹⁰I will take away the chariots from Ephraim
    and the warhorses from Jerusalem,
    and the battle bow will be broken.^(G)
He will proclaim peace^(H) to the nations.
    His rule will extend from sea to sea
    and from the River^[a] to the ends of the earth.^(I)
¹¹As for you, because of the blood of my covenant^(J) with you,
    I will free your prisoners^(K) from the waterless pit.^(L)
¹²Return to your fortress,^(M) you prisoners of hope;
    even now I announce that I will restore twice^(N) as much to you.

¹I will exalt you,^(A) my God the King;^(B)
I will praise your name^(C) for ever and ever.

and extol your name^(E) for ever and ever.

³Great^(F) is the Lord and most worthy of praise;^(G)
    his greatness no one can fathom.^(H)
⁴One generation^(I) commends your works to another;
    they tell^(J) of your mighty acts.^(K)
⁵They speak of the glorious splendor^(L) of your majesty—
    and I will meditate on your wonderful works.^[b]^(M)

¹³Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,^(AF)
    and your dominion endures through all generations.

The Lord is trustworthy^(AG) in all he promises^(AH)
and faithful in all he does.^[c]

Romans 7:14-25

¹⁴We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual,^(A) sold^(B) as a slave to sin.^(C) ¹⁵I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.^(D) ¹⁶And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good.^(E) ¹⁷As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me.^(F) ¹⁸For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature.^[a]^(G) For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. ¹⁹For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing.^(H) ²⁰Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.^(I)

²¹So I find this law at work:^(J) Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. ²²For in my inner being^(K) I delight in God’s law;^(L) ²³but I see another law at work in me, waging war^(M) against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin^(N) at work within me. ²⁴What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death?^(O) ²⁵Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!^(P)

So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law,^(Q) but in my sinful nature^[b] a slave to the law of sin.^(R)

²⁷“All things have been committed to me^(D) by my Father.^(E) No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.^(F)

²⁸“Come to me,^(G) all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.^(H) ²⁹Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,^(I) for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.^(J) ³⁰For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”^(K)
